The Benefits of Reflexology
Reflexology is a type of massage that focuses on pressure points on the hands or feet that correspond to various systems within the body. According to the Ontario College of Reflexology (OCR), reflexology is “a focused pressure technique, usually directed at the feet or hands”. Based on the idea that there are “zones” or “reflexes” on the hand or foot that correspond to different parts, glands, and organs in the body.
How does reflexology work?
When reflexes are stimulated, the body’s natural energy works alongside the nervous system to clear any blockages that may be manifesting in certain zones. Any of these blockages might interfere with the body’s natural energy flow and reflexology helps to restore the flow to a state of “homeostasis” or “balance”.
